What is total breast reconstruction
Total breast reconstruction is a surgical procedure aimed at rebuilding the entire breast after a mastectomy, which is the removal of breast tissue typically due to breast cancer. The reconstruction can involve using implants, autologous tissue (tissue taken from another part of the patient’s body), or a combination of both. The goal is to restore the shape, size, and appearance of the breast, achieving a natural look and symmetry with the other breast. This procedure can significantly improve a patient's quality of life and body image following mastectomy.
Is total breast recon for me?
Total breast reconstruction may be suitable for you if you have undergone a mastectomy due to breast cancer or other medical conditions. Ideal candidates seek to restore the shape, size, and appearance of their breast for improved body image and quality of life.

If you have any of these wishes, this operation is indeed for you.
During the procedure
During total breast reconstruction, autologous tissue reconstruction may be done, where tissue from another part of the body, such as the abdomen or thigh, is used to form the new breast. Alternatively, implant-based reconstruction involves placing silicone or saline implants to recreate the breast shape. Sometimes, a combination of both techniques is employed for a more natural result. The procedure often involves multiple stages, including initial reconstruction and later refinements.
